Creative wisdom of crowd….Is an expert smarter than a crowd?

There’s so much happening on crowdsourcing across various verticals and geographies – whether its ideas, designs….you have people noticing the power of crowd. But an interesting question is whether the collective wisdom of crowd better than an expert. Asked time and again and multiple people have written on the subject, but i thought there's no harm in another one trying his hand on the same :)

The above interpretation is completely my thought on how different types of sourcing works – the width of circle being representing the “breadth of services or ideas” on offer. Now how this fits in the question of whether an expert is better than a crowd or not…Actually the question is a mis fit because both the forms have there own set of benefits and hence depending on the kind of service you are looking at your choice will depend.

If the question is to have new ideas, revolutionary thinking then crowdsourcing is the kind of thing which fits in well but if your need is to have a quick solution without budgetary constraints then going to an expert can be a better option.

PS: Every second i find a few crowdsourcing platforms bridging the above gap and proving that crowd can handle any kind of requirement. I come from Jade Magnet - www.jademagnet.com which is India's largest crowdsourcing platform and we are now building mechanisms of handling end to end requirements to extent of printing, fabrication and also manage quick churn over things.
