Hitachi Data Systems Names New Executives to Marketing and Product Management Organizations

Hitachi Data Systems announced the appointment of marketing executives, Eric-Jan Schmidt and Asim Zaheer and technology executives, Scanlon Putegnat and Miklos Sandorfi. With these appointments, Hitachi Data Systems demonstrates its commitment to the customer as a technology leader and innovator. Scanlon Putegnat, Vice President, Worldwide Telecom, is responsible for developing and the driving the company's cross-functional strategy for the telecommunications market. Prior to joining Hitachi Data Systems, Mr. Putegnat served as industry director for the global telecom business at Microsoft, responsible for driving the strategy of consumer-based software services. Miklos Sandorfi, Chief Strategy Officer, File and Content Services, is a key contributor in defining the company's strategy and direction for its File and Content Services business. Mr. Sandorfi joins Hitachi from SEPATON where he helped bring to market enterprise-class virtual tape library and data de-duplication solutions as founder and chief technology officer.

Eric-Jan Schmidt, Vice President, Corporate Marketing, is responsible for the corporate marketing strategy, corporate communications and integrated programs initiatives for Hitachi Data Systems. Previously Mr. Schmidt served as director of worldwide marketing for EMC, where he was responsible for the company's corporate marketing efforts in the backup, recovery and archiving segment. Asim Zaheer, Vice President, Product and Competitive Marketing, is responsible for the company's product and competitive marketing teams, focusing on differentiating Hitachi Data Systems products and solutions and the development of marketing strategies. Prior to his most recent role at SEPATON, Mr. Zaheer was the senior director of business planning and development with Hitachi Data Systems, where he led the team responsible for establishing the Hitachi Content Archive Platform in the market.
