WRITE TO BECOME RIGHT
One day I was wondering why I waste lot of time thinking about many things yet doing very little. Of course, I am sure I have the ability to do all that comes to my mind. Yet, success and happiness being elusive to me in spite of my efforts, I ended my days dissatisfied.
One day I received a gift from a friend on the first day of the year 2005 - A PEN! It looked so good, I became a child at 47 years, so fascinated was I that I scribbled almost 2 pages of my note pad. To my surprise, I was writing about my character as if I was asked by the divine to confess in writing. I was writing about what was bothering me, professionally and personally and to my surprise all the things after being written seemed simple and I felt as though I had answers for all of them.
At the outset, I felt stupid to have taken too long to do this, as though waiting for want of a pen to put things in ink to find solutions. After all, 47 years of which 25 years has been a life of an informed professional with decent maturity and good friends to seek advice on matters that I have suffered for no reason.
As I read and started to read my own thoughts in reflection, I was to see the magic working on me and I must confess, I am not the same person ever since then. I am now a vivid writer with no prior experience or formal qualification to this trait and I am confident of about writing on any subject albeit the technical ones. Also writing gives me pleasure, confidence, the belief in my capacity, throws my weakness open to my eyes and prepares to face the world with humility and simplicity connecting to the divine that I have never emphasised till then.
This new passion for writing led me to reading more on anything I felt would improve my life and I started reading some classics that I shall mention at the end of this. As I read more (less of my professionals subject) on subjects of self improvement and old classics I found that I am not the rare variety on this earth to go through these feeling s in life and I was happy to share the same with many great men who were in the same orbit before pushing them out to the higher levels to be called Great.
What did my writing really meant to me:-
- 1. I became more committed to my thoughts.
- 2. I could take action, if not immediately, at some point of time.
- 3. I became clear in my thinking and the results expected of my action.
- 4. I could foresee failures and take corrective action much before they became a reality.
- 5. I could organise myself, set priorities and give myself an account of my actions in the first place.
- 6. I felt a change in my personality fostering more confidence, poise and also a flair that was missing in dealing with me, my family, friends and business associates.
- 7. It improved my English, that till then I was wrongly proud to be good.
-
8. I realised the power of words in getting whatever I want in my life written as if by a will of God.
The books that influenced me the most:
1. LAW OF SUCCESS- By Napoleon Hill
2. THRIFT - By Samuel Smiles
I also realised that it is good to read many books. Yet, it is better to read a few good books many times.
I hope the above inspires the readers and they start writing down their problems to erase them from their lives.
