Marico Innovation Foundation-Erehwon Innovation Consulting, in collaboration with Altair India, announced the launch of the Product Innovation Manifesto, in a move to understand what is required to spur innovative, breakthrough products to emerge out of India.  The research culminating in the Manifesto spans industries like automotive, consumer durables and electronics, FMCG, Infrastructure amongst others. The Manifesto cautions against too much reliance on the IT and ITES sector or the dubious status of the low cost manufacturer.  It highlights the need to develop, manufacture, market products that catch the world's imagination should India wish to overcome the "powerhouse-to-be" category and truly emerge as a power to reckon with. Structured in two parts, the Manifesto - in its first half, articulates the mindsets that are blocking product innovation in India and the mindset shift required.  In the second half it deep-dives into five successful product innovations, building insights into what it takes to make them happen.  These include Tata Refractories, Titan Edge, Bosch India, Sukam and Kirloskar Brothers. It identifies four key mindsets that require a shift to enable product innovation in India.  These include mindsets towards creating a breakthrough; towards seeking breakthrough opportunities; mindset towards pursuing breakthroughs; and mindset towards collaboration in growing the breakthrough.
