Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organized a Press Conference with Professor C.K. Prahalad to elaborate the vision of India@75 at the CII office, Bangalore. This vision has been developed by Prof C K Prahalad, Paul Ruth McCracken distinguished Professor, Ross School of Business, The University of Michigan. CII will adopt this vision as a long term agenda and will internalize it to build a stronger vision over the coming years.
India @ 75: the emerging Agenda is based on three core principles namely aspiration must always exceed present resources requiring a big stretch, progression towards the vision must be a process of discovery, of 'folding in the future' and there must be innovation, and development of 'next practices.' The vision sees 6 Big Opportunities for India. These include converting demographic dividend into a global leadership advantage, produce at least 30 Fortune 100 firms, generate over 10% of world trade, become the crucible for global innovations, nurture a vibrant renaissance of world-class contemporary art, science, research and education and set the benchmark for a global model of harmony and prosperity through diversity. Adopting a bottom-up approach, the Confederation is drawing up a comprehensive action plan for defining and carrying forward the India@75 vision at the national and state levels, jointly with the Yi (Young Indians) arm of CII, who have made India@75 their mainstream agenda. This will provide thought leadership and help shape the aspirational long-term agenda of the organization in nation - building and developing a global footprint for India.
