"I have a prototype of my
product offering; I have my team of technical experts in place; I even have a
few angel investors to fund my idea; I have rented my friend's garage to set up
our new office; but I am really petrified about jumping into the ocean of
entrepreneurship! Is there an ecosystem where I can find support from mentors
and find partners among similar ventures?"

Proto.in the startup event New Delhi
18-19th , July, 2008
|
These worries sound
familiar, isn't it... not to worry, Proto.in is back to put the right ecosystem
in place that can nurture budding entrepreneurs. Proto.in is a national level start-up summit
which gives entrepreneurs a platform to showcase their imagination with a
working prototype and interact with venture capitalists to explore
possibilities.
Fortunately, Proto.in has now become one of the most sought
after event in the VC calendar. The world's leading VCs such as Sequoia
Capital, Lightspeed Ventures, NEA Ventures, Venture East, Google Ventures,
Reliance Ventures,
DFJ Ventures, have shown
interest. This time as the event moves its venue to New Delhi on 18-19 July 2008, India's
top VCs are expected to be present in full attendance.
Apart
from the VCs, top entrepreneurs are expected to be presenting their experience
as key note speakers. In the last edition, Vishal Gondal spoke on ‘From Nothing
to Something'; Rajesh Jain spoke of ‘Disruptive technologies'; Samir Sood from
Google provided a venture capitalist's perspective. Further, there were
representatives from Open Social who spoke of the new Open Social ecosystem.
Any
start-up promotion event invariably focuses on the evergreen hot sectors -
Telecom and Information Technology. Fortunately, in the latest New Delhi
edition, Proto.in's focus is on covering the various aspects of the latest
business trends in Clean Energy technologies, Web 3.0 emergence, Mobile and
Internet Media,.
With so much of hectic activity happening, it is
obvious that budding start-ups will be eager to participate in Proto.in, which
is hosted by Vijayanand and his passionate team. So to facilitate the best
imaginative ideas to get hog the spotlight, Proto.in has a detailed selection
process. To begin with, there is a self nomination by the start-up, followed by
validation by a subject matter expert. Then the short-listed concepts are
meticulously scrutinized by the validation by a entrepreneur committee. This
year, out of the 120 start-ups nominated, 25 concepts have made it to the final
cut.
Hopefully, this is year as well Proto.in will enable
collaborative concepts and networking opportunities between entrepreneurs, VCs
and Private Equity players.
