Bharti Airtel announced that it has entered into an NNI (network-to-network interface) agreement with Pacnet to interconnect their respective networks, expanding connections to and from India.  Under the scope of the agreement, the two companies will directly interconnect their network infrastructure to expand their respective MPLS (multi protocol label switching)-based IP VPN (Internet Protocol virtual private network) capabilities and to provide advanced IP solutions to key business customers in the region. The agreement will enable both the companies to deliver greater coverage, seamless user experience and reliable technology to their customers.

Following the signing of the NNI, Airtel and Pacnet also announced a special "Gateway to India" offering for high capacity International Private Line circuits between the United States and India. Delivered in collaboration with Pacific Crossing the "Gateway to India" offering will leverage the strengths of each company's subsea assets to provide a fast, resilient end-to-end connection for enterprise customers who have large capacity requirements between these markets. The connections will utilize Airtel's i2i/SeMeWe 4 system, Pacnet's EAC-C2C network and Pacific Crossing's PC-1 cable system.

With PoPs (points of presence) across 125 cities and 73787 kilometres of optic fibre cable covering all major cities in India, Airtel is India's leading integrated telecom service provider. It has recently invested in a number of cable consortiums expanding its global footprint with the aim of providing reliable, resilient global networking solutions for its customers. The company has one of India's leading advanced MPLS IP backbone infrastructures which support multiple applications with enhanced scalability and service assurance.
