Visit Britain's
overseas travel trade event, Destination Britain took place from 19th to
22ndMay, 2008 in Port Douglas, Australia. Destination Britain 08' brought together 45 UK suppliers,
88 overseas buyers and 18 media representatives from across 14 markets in the
APMEA region for networking and business negotiations. India took 9
agents and 3 media representatives for the event. UAE and South Africa
participated for the first time.
The mission was led by Tom Wright, CEO VisitBritain
and the High Commissioner in Australia,
Mrs. Helen Liddle. Early reports suggest that Destination Britain 08' has been
a huge commercial success, with many UK suppliers predicting a minimum
20% increase in business as a result of attending the conference. Next years
location has been announced as India
and this has excited the UK
suppliers enough to confirm participation in advance.
