Airtel Heralds Rural Mobile Revolution in Karnataka PDF Print E-mail

Bharti Airtel announced its ‘Grameena Mobile Kranthi' campaign for penetrating deeper into Karnataka's rural market by means of customized and affordable products and services particularly meant for rural consumers. The ‘Grameena Mobile Kranthi' initiative further marks Airtel's strategic intent of making mobile telephony more accessible and affordable among rural consumers. Airtel's aim is to enable every individual in Karnataka to enjoy the benefits of a robust network, seamless connectivity and innovative services - all matching global telecom standards.

Airtel, in association with Nokia, is offering 2 new models of Kannada handsets to make communicating on mobiles more easy and desirable for the people of Karnataka. The Nokia 1200 Monochrome / black and white Kannada handset is available at just Rs. 1,272/- and the Nokia 1208 colour Kannada handset is available at just Rs. 1,560/-. With both the Kannada handsets, a free Airtel mobile connection is provided along with a recharge of Rs. 295/- Lifetime validity and local calling rates at Re. 1/- per minute. All STD calls are charged at Rs. 1.50/- per minute.

Airtel has entered into a strategic tie up with the Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative limited  (IFFCO) and formed a new joint venture company called IFFCO Kisan Sanchar Limited (IKSL). This joint venture company will harness the power of telecom to add value to the farm sector and empower the rural farmer by giving him access to vital market information at his fingertips. IKSL will offer products and services, expressly designed for farmers, through IFFCO societies in villages across the state. On offer will be affordable mobile handsets bundled with an Airtel mobile connection. The farmer will also get access to a unique VAS platform that will broadcast 5 free voice messages on mandi prices, farming techniques, weather forecasts, dairy farming, animal husbandry, rural health initiatives and fertilizer availability etc. on a daily basis. In addition, farmers will be able to call a dedicated helpline, manned by experts from various fields, to get answers to their specific queries.
