Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) deploys more
marketing resources to enhance Hong Kong's exposure stimulating consumers'
interest in visiting Hong Kong. It plans to
capture the opportunities among family visitors by leveraging Hong Kong's
diverse and sophisticated shopping and dining offerings besides its popular
tourism attractions like ‘A Symphony of Lights' multimedia show across the
magnificent skyline of Victoria Harbour, Ngong Ping 360 cable ride, Hong Kong
Disneyland, Hong Kong Wetland Park, The Peak with Madame Tussauds Hong Kong,
Ocean Park, and creating the appropriate products and services.
The Hong Kong Tourism Board
(HKTB) unveiled its growth plans for the Indian market to tap the outbound
visitors and expand its marketing outreach to Southern India in view of the
recent breakthrough in bilateral aviation agreement between India and Hong Kong.
Hong
Kong will offer a plethora
of summer activities during this period with its mega event, Hong Kong Summer
Temptations from 1st July to 21st September 2008. Besides enjoying the shopping and dining
offers, visitors can play the "Explore Hong Kong Stamp Rally" Game to discover Hong Kong's unique living culture and also participate in
the "Visa ‘Million Dollar' Lucky Draw". Over the past six years, arrivals to
Hong Kong from India
have increased by more than 70%. In
2007, Hong Kong welcomed 317,510 visitors from India. In 2007, spending by Indian visitors in Hong Kong averaged HK$4,854.
Almost 70% of visitors from India to Hong Kong also went to other
destinations such as Mainland China. Leveraging on China's
growing popularity as an inbound market, the HKTB has been working closely with
travel trade to tailor combo-itineraries that include Beijing
and Hong Kong pre- and post-Olympics. Together with the airline and cruise
partners, including Cathay Pacific, Jet Airways, Star Cruises, HKTB aims to
create more new and exciting products, which highlight multi-destinations
and/or fly-cruise features to the Indian consumers.
The bilateral agreement in air services arrangements
concluded between the Hong Kong SAR and India Governments last December is
expected to create new opportunities for Indian travel trade to creatively
package Hong Kong and cruise itineraries with
other popular destinations in the region.
The new agreement allows increase to 74 weekly flights between Hong Kong
and India
from 20 weekly flights last year. Cathay
Pacific Airways has already enhanced its services to Delhi and Mumbai, while Chennai will be its
new port of call next month. Dragon Air
will soon connect a daily service to Bengaluru and Jet Airways will add a daily
flight from Delhi
to its recently launched service from Mumbai.
