Hughes Communications India helps UBI achieve the distinction of being the 1st large nationalized bank to become 100% core banking enabled. It deploys state-of-the-art Satellite Broadband network.
Hughes Communications India Ltd., the world's leading provider of satellite broadband services, Managed Network Services and products for businesses, governments and consumers today announced that it has deployed a satellite broadband network for Union Bank of India (UBI) for running the formers Core banking solution across 400 branches and ATMs in the country. As part of the deployment, Hughes will also connect the UBI network to its Managed Services NOC in Gurgaon. In addition, Hughes will also set up a dedicated 24x7 technical support helpdesk to network assistance to UBI.
Valued at Rs. 2.2 crores with a contract period of 5 years, the project is being carried out in two phases with the first phase already under completion. The contract includes the deployment of a turnkey network which encompasses system integration, satellite bandwidth and network management. The network is built on a Satellite based VPN technology and consists of a central NOC that is connected to the various branches/ATMs of UBI using satellite as a medium. UBI's data centers are connected to the central managed services NOC of Hughes using terrestrial links. Hughes has worked with a host of leading banks in India including State Bank of India, RBI, ICICI, HDFC, Canara, Oriental Bank of Commerce, Andhra bank, Corporation bank, J&K Bank, United Bank and Bank of Maharashtra to name a few. Globally too Hughes list of clients in the BFSI segment is impressive with banks like Banco do Brasil, People's Bank of China, HSBC and ANZ. On an average over 7.5 million financial transactions globally are processed on a Hughes network every day by retailers and financial customers.
