BIOVET an integrated biotechnology company with the core focus on animal health, cutting edge technologies in research, product development, manufacturing and testing of animal health care products announced the commissioning of Asia's first bio safety level 4 (BSL-4) manufacturing facility. This manufacturing facility is located at KIADB-Industrial area in Malur, 30 Kms south of Bangalore.

The manufacturing facility is built adhering to the highest standards of current Good Manufacturing Procedures (cGMP) for vaccines and biologics and most stringent criteria for containment of highly contagious and infectious organisms. The facility is specifically designed to enable product development and manufacturing of vaccines like Foot & Mouth disease vaccine (FMD). Foot and Mouth Diseases (FMD) today affects a growing number of cattle, sheep, horses and other cloven footed animals, causing catastrophic economical loss to small, marginal farmers that depend on the animals for their livelihood. Although several countries worldwide have eradicated FMD, it is a major disease problem in India causing significant amount of economic loss especially to the meat and dairy industries, by reducing their domestic sales and exports.
