In the previous part of this article I spoke about some things we could do to race up the corporate ladder.  A New Year's Resolution is a commitment that an individual makes to a project or a habit, often a lifestyle change that is generally interpreted as advantageous.

So I talked about setting realistic benchmarks like learning something new, Thinking like a CEO, being punctual, keeping our voice down, resist from office gossip, wear your attitude,  no personal usage of phone or the internet and being specific.

Here are 10 more Do's and Don't's to  race up your Corporate Success Ladder.

11. Keep a tab on the volumes

While most of the companies allows their employees to listen to music as they work, make sure you're humming or singing or choice of music doesn't irritate the person next to you. A most common nuisance is the jarring volumes on your mobile phones. Set a pleasant ring tone on your mobile and at a level not too loud (Better off in a vibration mode or a silent mode). Watch your volume even when you are thinking aloud or plainly rapping your fingers on your desk.

12. Watch those crumbs

After eating make it a point to clean up. Wipe up the crumbs and spills. Laying out paper napkins for your dining space will help in keeping the dining table clean. Don't forget to put all wrappers and other wastes in the lunchroom garbage after you've finished. No one likes to eat in a dirty dinning area.

enjoy the journey of life because success is a journey not a sprint

13. Get Organized

On just about every New Year resolution top twenty list, organization can be a very reasonable goal. Whether you want your home organized enough that you can invite someone over on a whim, or your office organized enough that you can find the stapler when you need it, these tips and resources should get you started on the way to a more organized life.

14. Hygiene habits

Make it a point to flush the toilet after use. Your crusade against water conservation should not result in others dying of stench. Simple things such as keeping the toilet floors clean, using the toilet bin go a long way in maintaining a clean and hygienic space.

15. Respect personal space

Don't force your partner to draw enemy lines. Respect your colleagues' space. Do not clutter. Put your personal stuff in drawers or cabinets. Also make it a habit of not peeping into your colleagues' workspace. What they do is extremely confidential.

16. Whereabouts

Leave a word about your whereabouts by jotting down or pinning a note to your desk. Leave a word where you are with those who need to know.

17. Personal Grooming

In this age of Personal Branding, however, developing a good image is as important. For example, never under-dress. Ask around, check out what's acceptable and not. Your colleagues and co-workers shouldn't feel that you have dressed too casually. Also keep yourself updated with the latest reforms in fashion for parties and weekends. Little things like direct eye contact and a firm handshake can make all the difference between making or breaking that deal. Using the full name when meeting a person for the first time, offering a light, general compliment and clarity of speech are pointers to personal branding.

18. Givers Gain

Givers gain - a BNI philosophy. This is predicted on an age-old idea of "what goes around, comes around." A popular, non-selfish New Year's resolution, volunteerism can take many forms. Whether you choose to spend time helping out at your colleague in the office, mentoring a child, or taking care of a pet, there are many nonprofit volunteer organizations that could really use your help. Or if your time is really in short supply, maybe you can at least find it in you to donate the furniture, clothing and other household items that you no longer need, rather than leaving them out by the curb to fill up our landfills.

19. Don't sweat your small stuff...Have lots of Fun!

Last but not the least; don't sweat your small stuff! all work and no fun burns any professional players as well. So, enjoy the journey of life because success is a journey not a sprint, go slow, pace out your goals and maintain a balance. : Build a serious passion outside your work. Respect and nurture your personal relationships. Exercise. Meditate or Pray. Listen to the music you love. Build a new network outside the current. These things will together help you stay away from sweating your small stuff. Given the hectic, stressful lifestyles of billions of working professionals, it is no wonder that "enjoying life more" has become a popular resolution in recent years. It's an important step to a happier and healthier you!

20. Realistic Goals / Resolution

While on the go, however, one must remember that setting a realistic resolution is a balancing act that makes all the difference between being a long distance runner and a spark in the night. "Never measure success in terms of what others have achieved." Instead, set your own personal benchmarks and compete against that.

Concluding it by a quote by the greatest human being ever lived:

As human beings, our greatness lies not so much in being able to remake the world, as in being able to remake ourselve`s. Mahatma Gandhi
