McAfee announces OEM agreement for VMware ESX
Server. It also endorses VMware VMsafe and offers products and services for
virtualization security.
McAfee, Inc., announced that it has entered into a broad
relationship with VMware Inc. to advance virtualization security. As part of
the relationship McAfee plans to embed the newly announced VMware VMsafe
security technology into future security solution offerings. McAfee has also
signed an OEM (original equipment manufacturer) agreement with VMware to
utilize its VMware ESX Server technology. In addition, it announced beta
availability of its new Email and Web Security Virtual Appliance, built from
the ground up for the VMware platform. McAfee also unveiled a new virtual
infrastructure security assessment service.
McAfee is the first security company to adopt and publicly
demonstrate VMware VMsafe security technology. VMware unveiled VMsafe at
VMworld Europe in Cannes, France, where McAfee Chief
Technology Officer Christopher Bolin showed how VMsafe will offer unprecedented
levels of security for virtualized environments. McAfee unveiled Virtual
Appliance, announced Virtual Infrastructure Security Assessment Service.
MacAfee also signed an OEM agreement to use VMware ESX Server 3i technology in
future security solutions, which could include purpose-built versions of VMware
ESX Server 3i to support McAfee® security technology. It also announced
availability of its new Email and Web Security Virtual Appliance for early
delivery customers, built from the ground up for the VMware platform. McAfee's
security risk management offerings are fully compatible with VMware
virtualization and help enterprises create a safe computing environment. It delivers
a complete solution spanning virtualized servers, networks and desktops.
