In the present corporate climate
companies getting together on a platform to learn and share the knowledge and
the best practices in the Industry is welcome. This is also important as
organizations get an opportunity to understand and get better equipped to adapt
to the challenges of an increasingly global structure.
"Learning for the Future" -
the 3rd symposium of e2e Business Solutions discussed
key issues related to Employee Training and helping organizations understand
Efficient systems for Training that helps enhance their talent pools.

We are what we repeatedly
do .Excellence is then not an act but a habit - ARISTOTLE
Excerpts:
Mr K Dinesh - Co-founder of Infosys emphasized on
Leadership
by example - The leadership has to be on
the model of leading with example and the leaders should be able to walk the
examples with full visibility of the people in order to inspire and gain
respect.
Customer
delight - The concept of" customer is
always right" is being slowly replaced by the positive
delivery systems that focus on creating a " moment o truth "
experience for the customer to actually experience the products and delight the
customer. The customer then becomes the brand ambassador for the
product/service
Integrity
and transparency - There is increasing
demand for complete transparency and high level of integrity in the business
organization .This is deeply appreciated by both the investors and the stake
holders.
Mr Dinesh highlighted the incident in Infosys way back
in late 90s when after going for an IPO the company made some bad decisions in
investing in the stock market .The infamous Harshad Mehta scandal took a bad
hit at the stock market and in the process all the money Infosys had gained by
going public was gone. So the company chose to disclose this at the next AGM
instead of keeping it a confidential matter and thus won the confidence of its
stake holders and investors. For its integrity during hard times Infosys has
emerged the winner. Therefore high transparency during good times is also more.
Fairness - The need to be fair in all aspects of an enterprise
is gaining significant importance and people are intolerant to discrimination
Whether its in employment or in customer management
Pursuit of excellence - The business environment hotting up in terms of
various qualitative standards and benchmarking a business can no longer claim
itself ignorant of the latest breed of systems and process. The search for
excellence in every aspect of enterprise management has become the core issue
now and also a challenge in the coming years.
The
only way to address the chaotic tendencies of the next few years
Well
established systems and process
Value system very strong
Leadership driven change
Building aspiration among the youngsters
Applying the PDCA approach
Plan - Planning the task with the scope completely
visualized
Do - Convert
the plan into action
Check -
Periodical checks on the plan implementation levels and its focus to the actual
goal.
Act - To implement the improvised system
Yashasvini Ramaswamy - Director e2e business

She
brought to the fore front the need for training and its gaining importance with
the SMEs Statistics show that Training Budget has doubled in SMEs in the last
three years and the need for an organization to cope with the changing market
dynamics via training.
Recently
one of her clients invited her to make a survey and suggest remedies for the
20% attrition in the company. Yashasvini's contention is that when 80% of the
company staff is staying back a survey among them could give answers as to what
they see and cherish in the company. Why look at the 20% when the 80% are
enjoying and giving reasons not to leave.
Small enterprises can look
upon the implementation process from the large enterprise and can learn to
adopt some of the best practices; this saves a lot of cost on experimentation.
Training is very critical for constant modification of the behavior pattern in
which the organization has designed its objectives and delivery systems.
Speed
with velocity: That's having a road map
/direction. An employee or an organization having a set direction can create
velocity and the speed can reduce the gap between its goals. But on the reverse
of it without direction speed can just make the entire effort rudderless thus
resulting in the failure of the training effort.
Gap
analysis: Effective training programmes
are those that have understood the stage at which level of maturity the
orgnanisation is in . i.e Whether it is in infant , matured or the declining
stage. This enable the HR to address the core need of the organisation in terms
of training and take the organisation to the next level from the transition
stage.Changement management is nothing but focussed training modules that are
able to address the gap and compliment with support functions in order to
bridge the gap. This enable the organisation to migrate from one level to
another with minimised overheads.
Donald
Kirkpatrick model is very useful and
effective in identifying the training needs of specific stages within the
organsiation levels and delivery systems.
