Auto majors wins majority of IMTMA - Siemens Productivity Awards 2007 PDF Print E-mail

The IMTMA - SIEMENS Productivity Championship Awards 2007 were given to winners after a stringent evaluation of over 200 nominations during the Productivity summit 2007 organized by Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers Association [IMTMA]. At the awards function the Automobile companies dominated the stage with TVS Motor Company bagging the award for best work in ‘Productivity through metrics' and the prestigious award for ‘Productivity through quality' went to Bajaj Auto, Maruthi Udyog bagged 3 awards.

"The primary objective of these awards is to recognize, reward and encourage achievers who have contributed to productivity improvement in metalworking industries. IMTMA fervently hopes that its efforts will lead to a ‘Productivity Movement' among Indian industries, which will take the country towards global manufacturing competitiveness", said Mr. N.K. Dhand, President IMTMA as per an official release.

Every year, the award acknowledges and recognizes creativity and innovativeness of Indian manufacturers in their stride towards attaining highest levels of productivity.

The release further states that IMTMA firmly believes that the time has come to recognize those who have contributed to productivity improvement in Indian Industries and to encourage more to emulate pioneers. With this objective, IMTMA instituted the awards to be given to outstanding contributor to productivity in the Indian metalworking industry.

Sixteen top companies from the Auto sector such as Bajaj Auto, Maruti Udyog, Mahindra & Mahindra, Sundaram Clayton, TVS Motor Co. as well as key manufacturing conglomerates such as BHEL, HAL, etc. competed for the prestigious awards. These companies came through a stringent evaluation process from over 200 entries received. 21 case studies were selected for the final presentation round to compete for the seven key streams of the awards-the final round of championship. The award winners were selected by a distinguished jury of eminent persons with acknowledged contribution at the highest level to the manufacturing field in India.
