Unisys Corp. named Craig Samuel to the newly-created position of vice president, Business Innovation. In this role, he reports directly to Unisys Executive Vice President and President of Worldwide Sales, Marketing and Technology Peter Blackmore. Samuel will continue to serve as president of the Institute for Innovation and Information Productivity (www.iii-p.org), a leading, non-profit technology research organization that Unisys has recently joined.

As vice president of Business Innovation, Samuel will drive and extend the company's history of technological innovation by capitalizing on Unisys strategic capabilities in enterprise security, outsourcing, open source, real-time infrastructure and Microsoft solutions. He will also lead the company's client-facing business transformation organization and will manage the company's intellectual property and patent development to provide additional value to Unisys customers.

Samuel joins Unisys most recently from HP Services Worldwide, where he served as chief knowledge officer (CKO) for more than six years. In this capacity, he had responsibility for global knowledge and collaboration management, intellectual capital strategy, and technical workforce development and selection for HP's global services business operating in more than 160 countries. Samuel has been recognized for successfully creating structural intellectual capital and innovative thinking by working across geographical boundaries and business silos. After September 11, 2001, he provided counter-cyber terrorism and homeland security strategy and counsel to the Organization of American States (OAS), U.S. Pentagon and top global corporations.

Prior to HP, Samuel held a number of leading positions within organizations in which he promoted the research and understanding of the impact of technology on productivity. He served as vice president and chief technical officer of The Legal Knowledge Company (LRN), whereby he oversaw the development of online learning initiatives and knowledge Web portals for many large global companies. Samuel also served as a senior technology executive for TRION Technologies, Inc. and held a number of positions of increasing responsibility at British Petroleum Group (BP).
