Unisys Corp. named Craig Samuel to the newly-created position
of vice president, Business Innovation. In this role, he reports directly to
Unisys Executive Vice President and President of Worldwide Sales, Marketing and
Technology Peter Blackmore. Samuel will continue to serve as president of the
Institute for Innovation and Information Productivity (www.iii-p.org), a leading, non-profit technology
research organization that Unisys has recently joined.
As vice president of Business Innovation, Samuel will drive
and extend the company's history of technological innovation by capitalizing on
Unisys strategic capabilities in enterprise security, outsourcing, open source,
real-time infrastructure and Microsoft solutions. He will also lead the
company's client-facing business transformation organization and will manage the
company's intellectual property and patent development to provide additional
value to Unisys customers.
Samuel joins Unisys most recently from HP Services Worldwide,
where he served as chief knowledge officer (CKO) for more than six years. In
this capacity, he had responsibility for global knowledge and collaboration
management, intellectual capital strategy, and technical workforce development
and selection for HP's global services business operating in more than 160
countries. Samuel has been recognized for successfully creating structural
intellectual capital and innovative thinking by working across geographical
boundaries and business silos. After September 11, 2001, he provided
counter-cyber terrorism and homeland security strategy and counsel to the
Organization of American States (OAS), U.S. Pentagon and top global
corporations.
Prior to HP, Samuel held a number of leading positions within
organizations in which he promoted the research and understanding of the impact
of technology on productivity. He served as vice president and chief technical
officer of The Legal Knowledge Company (LRN), whereby he oversaw the development
of online learning initiatives and knowledge Web portals for many large global
companies. Samuel also served as a senior technology executive for TRION
Technologies, Inc. and held a number of positions of increasing responsibility
at British Petroleum Group (BP).
