BANGALORE, DECEMBER 21, 2006: Bangalore has the dubious distinction of leading the attrition rate index in the country. While the top three IT firms are capable of getting the required number of skilled workers, others are finding it difficult. To address the issue on a war footing, the Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce (BCIC) has engaged a Compensation Expert to do a salary survey.
BCIC President Mr. Venkat Kedlaya said, "Apart from pricing pressure and rising wage bills, attrition is the biggest challenge that the companies in IT, BPO, manufacturing and other services are facing today. This is of serious concern to industry all over the country, but more so in Bangalore."
BCIC, which represents 90% of the corporate sector in Bangalore, has decided to help its members in general and industry in particular. In this regard, it has engaged a Compensation Expert of National repute to carry out a salary survey in the different sectors to analyze sector-wise compensation. Experts will provide suggestions and ideas for the managements as to how they can sustain during the difficult times. BCIC will hold a seminar towards the end of February 2007 so that these factors could be considered and taken into account for their salary revisions in the next financial year," he added.
