Bangalore Nov 15, 2006 Freescale helps lower cost of Gigabit Ethernet connectivity
Addressing the market demand for inexpensive processors that can process multiple streams of rich multimedia content for homes, Freescale Semiconductor has introduced its new MPC8313E PowerQUICC IITM Pro processor with integrated security. D evelopment and validation of this MPC8313E processor and its application software were done entirely at Freescale's India Design Center in Noida , India.
The MPC8313E integrates a unique combination of Gigabit Ethernet , USB2.0, high speed interconnect and advanced power management technologies including residential gateways, IEEE® 802.11n access points, digital media servers, network access storage devices and printers.
In addition it also provides a 32-bit double data rate memory controller running up to 333 MHz, a 32-bit peripheral component interconnect controller, a 16-bit local bus and four direct memory access channels. The MPC8313E supports the IEEE 1588 timing protocol, which is essential for industrial control and test and measurement applications.
This device meets a number of requirements for digital home technology including piracy protection, quality of service and ease-of-use features. Also, the processor adheres to the Digital Living Network Alliance DLNA standard, which makes it easy for consumers to manage, view, print and share digital content across multiple devices within the home.
